Introdution

QTI s.r.l. (Quantum Telecommunications Italy) is the first Italian Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) company, providing industrial grade systems and products for quantum networks.

Headquartered in Florence, QTI was founded in October 2020 by a group of entrepreneurs, scientists, and researchers, associated with the Italian National Institute of Optics of the National Research Council (CNR). In 2021, part of the company’s shares was acquired by Telsy S.p.A., the cybersecurity and cryptography competence center of the TIM Group. This partnership has allowed the development of a fully entrusted end-to-end encryption system, compatible with current telecommunication infrastructure for civil and military applications. From its foundation, QTI has contributed with its experts to major tests, experiments, and implementation of QKD at national and European levels.

02
Role/Contribution

QTI serves as the Project Coordinator, bringing the end-user perspective to the team. In its role as a developer of QKD systems, QTI can provide insights into the necessary requirements for the single photon integrated platform. Additionally, thanks to expertise of its engineers, QTI can contribute to ensure the development of a high-performance, efficient, and market-ready product.

03
Why is this project important?

QTI is committed to advancing QKD technology through research and development activities, with the aim of bringing state of the art systems to the market. From an engineering viewpoint, QTI’s participation in the project enables the company to directly contribute to the exploration of a crucial technology for future QKD systems. On the other hand, partnering with other excellent entities in the sector represents a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and expertise in the sector.
