SUMMARY:High-dimensional quantum systems Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Qubits\, the quantum counterparts of classical bits\, lie at the heart of quantum information. However\, in recent years\, the use of qudits\, i.e.\, high-dimensional quantum systems\, has proven to offer significant advantages in certain quantum information protocols. Indeed\, the extended Hilbert space of qudit systems enables an increased information capacity per quantum carrier and enhanced security in quantum cryptographic protocols. Moreover\, their robustness to noise and decoherence makes them particularly attractive for practical applications in various quantum information protocols. \nThis workshop aims to bring together leading experts\, both theorists and experimentalists\, to explore the applications of high-dimensional systems in the broad domain of quantum information. Specifically\, the objectives of this workshop are: \n– To investigate the theoretical and experimental advantages of qudits over qubits in quantum information protocols.\n– To explore novel applications leveraging high-dimensional systems for tasks such as entanglement swapping\, quantum teleportation\, or other qudit-based techniques.\n– To discuss the challenges in the generation and detection of high-dimensional quantum states.\n– To foster collaborations between theorists and experimentalists to bridge the gap between theoretical proposals and practical realizations.
