POLIMI Showcases Innovative SPAD Development at Polifab Annual Meeting 2024

We’re excited to announce that our partner, Politecnico di Milano (POLIMI), recently presented groundbreaking work at the Polifab Annual Meeting 2024, that took place on February 16. The event featured POLIMI’s poster, titled “Enhancement of Photon Detection Efficiency in InGaAs/InP SPADs,” which highlighted their ongoing advancements in the QPIC1550 project.

The poster summarised the initial activities on converting illumination from the frontside to the backside of InGaAs/InP single-photon avalanche diodes (SPADs), a development crucial to the efficiency and precision of photon detection. This innovation will allow the SPADs to be seamlessly integrated with photonic integrated circuits (PICs) in QPIC1550, enhancing their performance in quantum communication and sensing applications.

POLIMI’s research reflects QPIC1550’s commitment to advancing scalable, high-performance quantum solutions at the telecom wavelength of 1550nm. This annual meeting at Polifab, Politecnico di Milano’s renowned facility for micro- and nano-fabrication, provided a great platform for sharing insights and gathering feedback from the broader scientific and industrial community.
