The SPOC Workshop 2024, hosted by the Technical University of Denmark – DTU in Copenhagen, provided a platform for the QPIC1550 consortium to highlight groundbreaking advancements in quantum photonic technology. Every year since 2015, SPOC has been gathering international scholars to delve into the realm of optical communications with the aim of finding solutions to the major challenges of communication systems.
During the 2024 instalment of the event, key consortium partners DTU and QTI contributed expert insights through compelling presentations that underscored the project’s commitment to leading quantum communication and computing forward.
Caterina Vigliar from DTU delivered an engaging talk on QPIC1550’s remote quantum computing approaches, presenting the current progress in developing quantum dot-integrated sources operating at 1550nm and emphasising the critical role of complex integrated quantum photonic circuitry. This presentation facilitated discussions with international researchers on the transformative potential of QPIC1550’s technology for scalable quantum applications.
QTI, represented by their CTO Davide Bacco, contributed to the dialogue by exploring quantum communications and the essential role of integrated photonics in advancing secure communication networks. Their talk offered valuable updates and perspectives on how integrated photonics is set to revolutionise quantum communication systems, aligning with the project’s mission to make quantum technologies more accessible and effective.
The SPOC Workshop served as an excellent opportunity for fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange within the international quantum research community. Through such participation, QPIC1550 partners continue to enhance visibility, build strategic connections, and accelerate progress in quantum technologies.
